Every chihuahua loves a handknitted sweater!
It's been getting a little cooler in Toronto these past few days.
I'd been meaning to knit Farfl a few sweaters for the Autumn, but had been busy knitting socks for myself and my girlfriend Sarah.
Then one evening last week when Farfl balked at going outside I knew I had to pull my finger out!
I don't know about you, but I find it really difficult...

I'm always on the lookout for excellent online clothing stores for my chihuahua.
Bloomingtails - simply the best online clothing resource for small dog breeds I
Until now I hadn't found one that had a wide collection of products with a decent price range and, most importantly for me up in Canada, reasonable shipping and handling costs.
This gorgeous tulle tutu is only $20!
I belong to a Facebook...

While Farfl was staying at Shangri-Paw she met a pug puppy called Rocco.
They were pretty close in size and became firm friends. Click on each picture to see the full story. Thanks so much to Sharon Herman for posting these on Facebook!

Farfl peeps out from underneath Hayley's hair.
Every year at the end of August our family goes away to a festival in the Laurentian mountains in Quebec. My husband teaches, my daughter runs around with her friends and I relax and listen to music all day long by the lake.
This year was the first year we've had to consider what to do with Farfl. Jess the cat is easy. She has a wonderful...

Finding a dog-friendly hotel is no easy feat.
Last weekend was visiting day at my kid's camp. In Sudbury. Which will mean nothing to anyone unless they live in Ontario, Canada.
I'm a city slicker now, but I grew up in darkest Warwickshire. Very pretty, very rural, tiny village, not much going on. But a damn site cuter than Sudbury.
But I digress - this blog post is not supposed to be about...

It was a long day and she coped admirably!
On Sunday we decided to walk down to Afrofest because Oumou Sangaré was playing - one of my husband's favourites. Then we thought - why not take the dog?
It was a good opportunity for my husband (above) to experience what it's like to take a dog to an event. He doesn't have much experience of dogs and was worried she'd get squished.
All the kids...

It wasn't the most auspicious start to this Kentucky family's barbecue
When another dog was bugging Smokey for his food, a member of the Wagers family waved a barbecue fork at the big dog to get rid of it. Unfortunately the fork flew off its handle and embedded itself in the 12-week-old puppy's head!
Smokey ran off for a couple of days hiding but as soon as he came back the family took him...

I finally worked out how to use Feedburner!
What this means is that you can now subscribe to Farfl.com and receive updates by email. So if there's a new post on the website, you'll get an email. Just once a day. If there's no email that day - that means there's nothing new on Farfl.com. And you can unsubscribe at any time!
Simply type your email address into the box on the right (underneath where...

Ugh - it's been one of those days where through no fault of your own you get into something with a complete stranger.
I was taking Farfl on a long walk through the park and alongside Mount Pleasant Cemetery in midtown Toronto this afternoon. As usual, Farfl goes off-leash as soon as we're on the pathway - as do lots of other dogs on that pedestrianized stretch.
On the bridge a woman was...

Okay, so there's no real reason to post - other than Farfl just doesn't stop being cute.
This is Farfl in her arch nemesis Jess' bed. I knitted it for Jess when I discovered felting. Jess dug it for a while then got tired of it. Farfl was happy to take it over....
With her in the bed is the little squeaky crab toy her breeder Lenni Reed sent home with her. She still loves it! It was the...
