Farfl is really easy to entertain.
Right after she finished taking the monkey to task it was time to teach the couch a lesson.
Don't mess with this chihuahua puppy - she can take you all!
One of the things I love about Farfl is how playful she is. She's learned pretty quickly to play gently with humans and other animals, but not with inanimate objects, upon whom she unleashes her full wrath. Heh...

Farfl has a new toy - and it's a monkey!
Farfl is indeed a fearsome chihuahua. Witness how she takes down this naughty monkey and shows him who's boss in the latest Farfl video.
That poor monkey never stood a...

It's hard to tire a chihuahua out when it below freezing outdoors.
Which is why it's great when she can find a game that expends a lot of energy while doing no damage to herself or the furniture. Here's a video of her digging indoors.
She seems to get a lot out of it and it doesn't do much damage to the fleece liner to her crate. I don't let her do it for too long - I don't want it to become an...

Just what is a mini chihuahua?
Finally, a picture that shows her in proportion!
If you have ever looked through the classified ads for a chihuahua puppy you will see the expressions "teacup chihuahua", "teacup tiny chihuahua" and "mini chihuahua" bandied about. But what does it mean? What's the difference between a teacup chihuahua and a regular chihuahua?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. There...

I don't know what this poor chicken ever did to Farfl
It was a Christmas present from my Dad and Farfl the chihuahua puppy loves it. She is not intimidated even though it squeaks and is bigger than her. She chases after it and then bites it in a painful looking place...
There's something pretty funny and twisted about where she bites the chicken. Well, I'll let you judge for yourselves...
Like I...

Did you ever buy a book and think: "I wish I'd had this book before I...."?
Well, that's pretty much how I felt when I picked up and read a copy of Puppy Whisperer: A Compassionate, Non Violent Guide to Early Training and Care. I took a quick look inside before I bought it and thought: "What the hell, I'll give it a try."
I started reading it yesterday and I just finished it - what a fabulous...

Farfl was having problems with her nylon harness.
Farfl the Chihuahua in her pink harness
A few days ago I noticed a clump of hair was stuck in the plastic clip of Farfl's harness. I took it off her and, sure enough, there was a little bare patch of skin on her side. She scratches at the harness and shakes it all the time - at first I thought it just was taking some getting used to, but this...

Small dogs get a bad rap when it comes to house training
Farfl in a sun patch
Because they're little, it can be easy to overlook a chihuahua puppy's accidents, because they're not as gigantic or disastrous as those left by a rottweiler or shepherd puppy. But this is a big mistake.
I live in Toronto, which is very, very cold and snowy in the winter time. This makes housetraining tricky because...

Who needs expensive toys?
Not Farfl - all she needs is a couch with rustly upholstery and a hand to chase.
She displays some pretty fierce growly barks and a stupendously waggy tail in this video. I also like how she looks out of the corner of her eye -...

It’s amazing what fun a tiny chihuahua can have with something that’s meant to clean her teeth.
Farfl is definitely teething right now and to stop her from chewing on my hand, my trousers, or the furniture, I bought her a nylon chew bone - chicken flavoured.
This was shortly before the cat, who hadn’t noticed her on the ground, picked a fight with her as she got up on the chaise...
